Hey everybody! Well as we all should know; it is EVERYONE'S responsibility to contribute to the health of our environment. From volunteering at the local soup kitchen, to running a community project, we can all make a difference.

Below, I have listed a few websites that you may be interested in. They each offer the opportunity to help the environment on local, national, and even global standards. Go ahead, take a look!


American Rivers

The American Rivers organization has existed for over thirty years now. It's main purpose is to provide for the upkeep and restoration of natural rivers in the United States. The organization's site offers you information on its current activities, and allows you to join their association.

If you do so, they will email you updates on all the current issues they are fighting, and ways that you can help by speaking out, or donating to their funds.

CARE

CARE is an organization that's existed for over 60 years now, working to better the communities of everyone around the world. The org.'s main focus is enabling woman in poor countries, building community finances and stability, and creating a safer living style for millions of people, including woman and children, overseas.

I greatly encourage EVERYONE to join this organization! They offer you the chance to speak your opinion directly to those of the U.S. Senate and House of Reps. over issues such as financial aid overseas, and the continuation of certain actions the U.S. takes to help the poor communities in places such as Darfur, South America, and Africa.

Youth Noise

This site has a variety of opportunities for those looking to better their community, become more involved, and get better educated about the world around them! I was first introduced to this site after attending a philanthropic conference in Michigan.

The website has a number of different 'cause channels', where you can learn more about a cause you favor, and see what's going on in relation to this cause. You can also follow their link to Volunteer Match. All you have to do is enter you zip code and find opportunities to volunteer in your own community! If not, simply talk with an advisor or counselor at your school! They'll know whether or not your community contains something like this. ^^

Rachel's Challenge

Many people have been touched by Rachel Scott's story; a young, caring girl who was killed during the Columbine school Shooting. When her father found her journals, talking about a better world filled with compassion and love, he and Rachel's family began "Rachel's Challenge" spreading the idea that Ms. Scott dreamed of. PLEASE check out this site, watch the video, and get your school signed up for an assembly with them! The challenge, and the voice of this young girl, is no less than life-changing.

Other Ways to Make a Difference in YOUR Community


YACs

One way to get involved in your own community is to join a YAC, aka Youth Advisory Council. These organizations give out money in grants towards community projects in their area. It's a wonderful way to get involved, meet new people, and have fun! Check out this site to see if one of your local yacs is listed!

Volunteer Organizations

In my community, we have a group called "Volunteer Connections." Its main purpose is to allow youth in the community better access to volunteer opportunities. Many cities or counties have these. If you'd like to be involved with one, simply grab your local phone book, turn to the yellow pages, and find either the 'volunteer' or 'social service organizations' section. Usually, you can find the organizations in this section. If you can't, talk with a school counselor or other adult that has connections with these types of associations.

As the founder, I am glad to welcome everyone to the Avatar Luvin Treehuggers' Club. This is a club solely created to honor the fandom of Avatar: TLA and its wonderful artists at DA. Through this club we hope to bring great opportunity, and many wondering eyes to our member's galleries and deviations.

First off ^^, A note from the Founder:

I would like to thank all of our new affiliates and members I would also like to encourage anyone and everyone to promote and join the club. As not only an avatar fan club, but a supporter of environmental protection and community development, the group still needs plenty of love. And I'd love to see it grow into something much larger.

Keep in mind you don't have to be a lover of nature, or a philanthropist-in-the-making, just someone who loves avatar and is interested in what we provide! Thank you ^^.

I'd like to announce, the club is now officially open! I encourage anyone who pairs their love of nature, and fandom of Avatar to join! Rules for joining and submissions are listed below, so PLEASE read them! Also, I encourage everyone to advertise this club too.

Also, I will be allowing admin applications *simple ones of course ^^* in the future, but for now, I will maintain the group on my own.

HOW TO JOIN

~~The process of joining this group is quite easy. Below is listed a just what you should do. PLEASE read before asking to join!~~

1. Send a note to our club titled "Join." Only one note is needed, repeated notes *unless from a website or submission error* will cause you to have a five day waiting period before being accepted.

2. Watch the club *this is not required, but greatly appreciated*

3. DO NOT ASK TO JOIN THROUGH DEVIANT COMMENTS OR DEVIATION COMMENTS! THESE WILL BE IGNORED!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES


1. All entries must be avatar related. --Though the main theme may be nature-loving, the art does not HAVE to symbolize that. ^^

2. To submit a deviation, simply send a note to the group titled "Submission- Fanart, amv, fanfiction" or whatever it may be. Please also include the link, title, and a very short description ^^.

3. Both AMV's and Fanfictions will be listed in a separate journal entry. Yet, both medias can also be occasionally featured.

4. No explicit or gorey media will be accepted *meaning nothing sexual, bloody, overly-violent: R rated and up is PROHIBITED*

5. OC's are allowed, but only once per week; three times per month.

6. Repeated violations may result in the deviant receiving a warning and/or suspension for a certain amount of time. Also, after a total of four warnings, the member will be removed from the club, and unable to
re-join.
